Hi there! My name is John Hammer, author of Gizbuyer Guide and I want to personally thank you so much for visiting my about page.
About John
Ever since I was able to walk I had a gadget of some sort in my hands. I remember during road trips with my family or when we would be at restaurants I would be tied to some kind of gizmo.
Even in high school I would have friends that would come up to me and ask me all the time for my recommendation on the latest tech that just got released and what my experiences with them were.
And yes… I still love using gadgets of all kinds! I love being the guy that stays up til 3 AM (since I live in the midwest, 12AM pacific time) just so that I can be one of the first to click the “pre-order” button on the latest smartphone at 3:01 AM and get my hands on it (yes yes, it’s my guilty confession).
I get so excited when I hear any rumors and news about what’s going to be in the latest gaming consoles, such as how it’s going to improve the immersive gaming experience, and what the differences between each one are going to be.
And of course the older I get, the busier and more living expenses I incur (because life).
So now I am more careful about exactly which brands to buy, why they are better than another brand that makes similar gadgets, if it’s going to make my life easier and more enjoyable or if I’m going to have to take a whole week off just to figure out how to use it…
Why This Review Site Exists
And that’s just the thing: whenever I search the web and browse the latest gadget reviews, it seems that there are two main quirks that I tend to come across again and again throughout my quest:
- They’re extremely feature packed: 2.7Ghz vs 1.8Ghz, 4K vs 1080p, 4.5 hrs of battery vs. 5.5 hrs. Now don’t get me wrong, I do like looking at all these numbers but I’m not so tied to them that I am going to purchase one product over another because the specs look a little better on paper… There’s just so much more to these gadgets than plain old numbers. What gets my heart racing is how the feel of it is, what’s the experience like using it for the first time and what are some thoughts while playing around with it to do a certain task? If I think a product is cool because I truly enjoy using it all the time, you better believe I’m going to buy it now! Simpler recommendations please! And also…
- Transparency: I want to submerge myself into a review by somebody who truly loves the product (or doesn’t!) not because they are sponsored or promoted by that company. Yes we all need to pay our bills, but how can I be convinced that the latest gadget is going to blow me away if the blog posts are written by room full of a hundred editors that are owned by a large corporation? Beats me.
That’s why I created Gizbuyer Guide. To share with you completely honest and personable reviews that are written by a person that loves using them… me!
